2 (Bad & Good) Changes Since Buhari Became President

It’s more than 30 days since Buhari became the democratic president of Nigeria. He promised to change a lot during his presidential campaign. Therefore, he definitely has a lot to live up to. After all, Nigerians would be accessing him all the way.

So far, I’ve only noticed 2 major changes since he became president:

1). Improvement in power supply

There has been an improvement in power supply. At least, I speak for where I live, and neighbouring areas.

Some PDP loyalists agree to my observation, but they feel it shows PHCN sabotaged Goodluck Jonathan’s government.

Well, I just hope it remains the same or improves.

2). Increase in Terrorist activities

Another change I’ve noticed – though not a good one – is an increase in Boko Haram terror attacks. It seems to be getting worst with over 200 people killed in the past 2 days.

Buhari and his party, APC, promised change.

They promised a new Nigeria.

They were loud, and so were their supporters.

I had a feeling that they’d win….

…and yes, they did win.

In fact, everyone had a feeling that APC would win the Nigeria presidential election. After all, PDP “hadn’t done much after 16 years”.

However, I doubted APC’s promises prior to the elections because I know politics in Nigeria is all about deception.

I know most Nigerian politicians don’t care about the average Nigerian.

I know most Nigerian politicians are not qualified to be in their posts.

I was up to the age to vote in the 2015 Nigeria elections, but I didn’t bother to vote because I couldn’t stand being fooled. I couldn’t risk it.

However, I always pray for change, peace, etc in Nigeria.

And I encouraged others to vote, as well as gave reasons why sane Nigerians shouldn’t vote.

I’m always ready to support any party or political leader that performs.

If APC starts performing today, I’d support it…

If it doesn’t, I’d criticize, and stand against it.

Here are some of APC’s promises prior to the 2015 Nigeria elections:

Direct conditional monthly cash transfers of NGN 5,000 to the 25 million poorest and most vulnerable citizens.
Provide one meal a day for all primary school students.
Free food for primary school pupils.
Ending Boko Haram.
Recovering stolen money.
Fighting corruption.

And more.

Well, it’s right to give APC sometime before I jump to conclusions. Nevertheless, they have a long way to go, and they should go fast.
