The Western World’s Justice System Sucks For Men

The western world is an epitome of civilisation on earth and that’s why people from developing countries with lower standard of living are attracted to it. To this people, the west provides a successful social, economic, and judiciary model much ahead in time! As a person from a developing nation (“3rd world”), a few problems exists in the western world’s justice system that I feel shouldn’t be. That is injustice or bais towards men.

Crimes in the western world

In the western world, women are more likely than men to be cautioned rather than charged.  They are less likely than men to be remanded in custody or committed for trial.
Female offenders in the western world are more likely than men to be given a community sentence or discharged and less likely to be fined or sentenced to prison.
Females sent to prison receive shorter sentences than males. This suggests that the criminal justice system does treat woman more leniently.

In the western world, men are more likely to be thrown in jail or sentenced to death for crimes they did not commit.
Let us take two common examples as a case study.

False rape cases in the western world

Rape cases spread like wildfire. And when it has to do with a woman, the public and even the justice system tends to side the woman ignoring that she might be wrong.
False rape claims distort the pursuit of justice and ruin the lives of innocent men. Let us examine the case of Latiqwa Mayes, a 20-year old woman living in Baltimore, US.
She was enraged that Donald Robinson had not received a stricter sentence for breaking into her room and assaulting her friend at a boardinghouse.
After some months, she saw him walking down the street in Baltimore, Maryland, and yelled: ‘He raped me! He’s a sex offender!’
Her father and a group of teenagers playing nearby attacked the man and beat him while she pepper sprayed him throughout… He managed to leave the scene, but fell ill hours later and died. Autopsy revealed that he died as a result of the beating he received from the mob.

Latiqwa was sentenced to 6-years in prison.
However, if it was a man that did that to a lady, I doubt he would have received an equal or lesser sentence. After all men have been sentenced to longer jail times for even lesser crimes.

Child support in the western world

I have heard of different cases of western men ordered by the court to pay child support for children that are not theirs. But we would just examine two recent cases.
Case 1:
Joseph Chmelar, a divorced father of two, was in for a big surprise when his young sons informed him that his ex — whom he had only recently separated from — had a child with another man. But shortly after, he had an even ruder awakening when he received a letter stating that he owed $8,500 in back child support for the kid — on Father’s Day weekend, no less.

“I thought, ‘My God, this is hilarious.’ It’s Father’s Day weekend and here’s the biggest joke that I think I’ve ever had played on me transpiring right now…”-Joseph Chmelar to Michigan’s WoodTV
Surprisingly, it turns out that it is legal, no thanks to a Michigan law drafted in 1956 called the Paternity Act that was recently called “outrageous” by a US lawmaker.

Case 2:
Carnell Alexander was ordered to pay $30,000 child support fees for a child that is not his (he proved so through DNA testing).
The situation arose when an ex-partner of Mr. Alexander put him down as the father of her child in an application for financial support from Michigan State in the late 80s.
She began receiving support from the state, and as far as the state was concerned Mr. Alexander was liable to pay it back.
The state sent an order to Alexander’s dad’s house notifying him of his obligation to pay, and a process server assigned to deliver the notice told the court he had done so but that Mr. Alexander had refused to sign a receipt.
But Mr Alexander was in prison for an unrelated crime at the time the order was supposedly delivered, and he never received it.
Mr Alexander had no idea about the paternity suit until he was stopped by a traffic officer in the early 1990s, which discovered Mr Alexander was the subject of an outstanding warrant for failing to pay paternity.
He has since refused to pay, and now is being threatened with legal consequences.
Women in the western world can choose to have a child or abort it. If they choose to have a child, the man is obligated to take care of the child. That is good, but when the child is not the man’s then it is bad. It is like paying for a house that you may never live in or a car that you may never drive.

Backed by science

Sonja Starr, an assistant law professor at the University of Michigan, found that men are given much higher sentences than women convicted of the same crimes in federal court.
The study found that men receive sentences that are 63 percent higher, on average, than their female counterparts.

Conclusion

True equality should translate in the justice system of any country.
